PlanetRAWK : All Black Metal Band Causing A Stir
With lyrics like these so potent yet so poignant, Atlanta GA’s own PlanetRAWK gives you a taste of what to expect from their debut album RAWKzilla.

With lyrics like these so potent yet so poignant, Atlanta GA’s own PlanetRAWK gives you a taste of what to expect from their debut full length album RAWKzilla.
I have to admit when this first came across my desk, a picture of 3 black kids, my initial thought was a wannabe Lil Wayne rock band and I didn’t even take a listen until a week later.
When I put on the first track “Dead Skin” immediately I figured out this isn’t a rap band by any definition.
Although their lead single “The Storm” has a few rap bars, it’s clear as you go through the album that it is definitely not what you expected.
Frontman Charlie Ahanotu vocally switches from rapping to screaming to singing within different measures of songs while female vocalist Ashley Fayt soulfully sings and screams bloody murder over heavy guitar riffs.
The opening track “Dead Skin” makes its very metal entrance with heavy riffs and dubstep like synth.
Charlie Ahanotu takes aim at the injustice being served by law enforcement, releasing verbal venom on the song “Fight” while “Story of Jacob” allows Ashley Fayt to step forward and give a story of doubt and truths making it very clear their stance on religion.
The mood changes with “The Last Platoon” where Charlie Ahanotu and Ashley Fayt trade vocal screams with music so haunting I felt like something serious was about to go down.
I have to say in researching this band they have been touring non stop for 3 years gaining popularity and notoriety the old-fashioned way by getting out there and letting people see their face.
Their music is truly one of a kind and a style not many of us have heard before. I truly commend this band and encourage you to go check out RAWKzilla when it hits stores Aug 24th.
