Asbury Park High School students shine: VFW award presentations
Every year The Patriot’s Pen essay contest calls for students to examine history through their own interpretation and apply that history to their everyday lives.
Just recently Mr. David Wronko’s students, Jayanna Lunsford, Ryan Monroe, Ceahni Piper, Edgar Escobar participated in the Patriot’s Pen essay contest.
Awards

All students were recognized for doing a great job.
Ken Hagemann, State Adjutant Quartermaster, Department of New Jersey, and Claude A. Jones, Sr. Vice Commander, Harold Daley VFW Post 1333, presented the students with Certificate, Medal, and Cash awards for their hard work and dedication. Both Mr. Hagemann and Mr. Jones explained the importance of the Patriot’s Pen and what it means for the country as a whole.
Patriot’s Pen essay contest
Every year The Patriot’s Pen essay contest called for students to examine history through their own interpretation and apply that history to their everyday lives. For instance, the recent contest asked, “How Can I Be a Good American?” Mr. Wronko students who were recognized did just that when they took their own interpretation on events going in the world and applied those events to their everyday life. Once they explained how those events applied in their life, the students went on to explain how they could make a positive difference from knowing about what was happening in the world.
All students in Mr. Wronko’s Dream Scholars were encouraged to participate again for next year’s Patriot’s Pen contest because through their participation, ideas would be formed that could help benefit the world we live in.
