Kansas City woman shot five times during Uber ride
Kansas City woman Terah Moore says she is blessed to be alive after a quick Uber trip for a Red Bull turned into a life‑threatening chase that ended with her being shot five times.
According to KCTV5, Moore says on March 22 she ordered the ride before work. The trip had barely begun when her driver noticed a burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee behind them. According to Moore, the driver said, “I think I’m getting followed.”
Attempts to Escape
Moore says she tried to help the driver get away. She directed her through side streets, hoping to break the tail. However, the Jeep stayed close. Moore says the SUV had pulled out of her apartment complex at the same time, but she initially dismissed it as coincidence.
As the chase continued, Moore says the danger became clear. The driver crossed railroad tracks as a train approached, but the Jeep still followed.
Kansas City Uber Shooting: Gunfire and Crash
Moments later, someone in the Jeep opened fire. Moore was hit five times as bullets tore into the Uber. The vehicle then crashed, rolled, and caught fire. The shooter fled before police arrived.
Moore was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She says she is now stable and grateful to be alive.
Terah Moore Discusses Recovery and Fear
Speaking from her hospital room to KCTV5, Moore says she is focused on healing but fears returning home. She had moved into her apartment less than a month before the shooting. She says the attack has left her family shaken.
“I’m fighting for my life,” she said. “I can still see my kids, and they can still see me.”
Police Search For Suspect(s)
Kansas City police are searching for a 2017 burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee with Kansas license plate 9103ACY. Investigators are asking anyone with information or video to contact detectives or the TIPS Hotline at 816‑474‑TIPS.
Community Support
A GoFundMe campaign is raising money to help Moore relocate and support her children during her recovery. Family members say the funds will help cover medical needs and temporary housing.
