According to reports, Takeoff and fellow Migos member Quavo, were at a private party.
Houston police said they responded to the scene of a shooting in downtown Houston at 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley around 2:30 a.m. local time.
Police said 40 to 50 guests had been at the private party when someone opened fire. When they arrived, officers said they found a large crowd and a man with a gunshot wound to the head or neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a tweet from the department.
Two other victims were taken in private vehicles to hospitals, police said.
Quavo was reportedly uninjured.
No arrests have been announced in the deadly shooting yet.
Music career
Born Kirsnick Khari Ball in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Takeoff began performing with his uncle Quavo, along with Offset, as Migos in 2008. The trio found fame with their 2013 single, “Versace.”
The group had four Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including their most successful 2016 hit “Bad and Boujee,” which featured fellow recording artist Lil Uzi Vert.
Migos put out three albums called “Culture,” “Culture II” and “Culture III,” with the first two albums hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. They also earned an ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2018, for their streaming success with multiplatinum songs like “Motorsport (featuring Cardi B and Nicki Minaj),” “Stir Fry,” and “Walk It Talk It.”
Takeoff and Quavo recently formed the duo “Unc & Phew” and released their debut album, “Only Built for Infinity Links,” on October 7.
The music video for their song “Messy” was released on Monday.
