71-year-old Florida woman fatally mauled by dogs while walking to work

Doreen Broadbelt, a 71-year-old resident of Miami Gardens, Florida, tragically lost her life Monday morning after a violent dog attack near her neighborhood.

According to police, Broadbelt was walking to her job when one or more dogs mauled her, inflicting severe injuries.

Miami Gardens Police officers responded around 7:40 a.m. to reports of an unresponsive individual near Northwest 196th Terrace and 14th Court.

When they arrived, first responders found Broadbelt lying beside a trailer with extensive trauma, which they believe one or more dogs caused.

Family members confirmed that Broadbelt was en route to her job at Walmart when the attack occurred. Her daughter, Lateisha Wilkinson, stated that Broadbelt had frequently expressed concern about aggressive dogs in the neighborhood. “They were always attacking her,” Wilkinson said. “I even got her a stick to carry.”

Broadbelt’s husband, Donovan Broadbelt, described her as a compassionate and selfless individual. “She cared deeply for our family,” he said. “Whether at work or in the community, if she saw someone in need, she would always try to help.”
