Floyd Roger Myers Jr., a former child actor best known for playing young Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, died Wednesday at age 42. His family confirmed he passed away from a heart attack at his Maryland home.

Untimely passing of Floyd Roger Myers Jr

Myers’ mother, Renee Trice, told TMZ that her son had suffered three previous heart attacks in recent years. Despite those health scares, his death came as a shock to loved ones.

Acting career

Born in the early 1980s, Myers began acting as a child. His breakout moment came in 1992, when he appeared in the Season 3 episode “Will Gets Committed.” He played a younger version of Will Smith, capturing the character’s charm and energy with ease.

That same year, Myers portrayed young Marlon Jackson in ABC’s Emmy-nominated miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream. He later appeared in the short-lived WB drama Young Americans, showcasing his range and charisma.

Community work and family

After acting, Myers stepped away from acting to focus on family and community work. He co-founded The Fellaship Men’s Group, a nonprofit dedicated to men’s mental health and emotional support. His sister described him as “a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a light in every room.”

GoFundMe campaign created to support Floyd Roger Myers Jr family
