GoFundMe started to support children of New Jersey sisters who died in Thanksgiving day fire
Relatives described Frantzia and PJ Fleury as devoted mothers and compassionate women. Each leaves behind one child.
A GoFundMe has been created for sisters Frantzia Fleury, 49, and Poujanee “PJ” Fleury, 42, who were killed in a Thanksgiving house fire in Orange, New Jersey. Both died trying to rescue their disabled father.
Flames erupted around 5 p.m. Thursday at the family’s Mosswood Avenue home. Officials pronounced the sisters dead shortly after 6:45 p.m.
Their father, who suffers from dementia, escaped with six others. Authorities confirmed no one else sustained injuries. The home is now uninhabitable.
Fleury Sisters Remembered for Courage and Devotion
Relatives described Frantzia and PJ as devoted mothers and compassionate women. Each leaves behind one child.
Family members said Frantzia, a Marine veteran and X‑ray technician, dedicated her life to medicine. PJ, an inventor and author, founded Brown Eyes magazine.
Sidney, a cousin, told CBS News: “These two women had big hearts. They were deeply devoted to their families. It’s just a tragedy.”
Community Launches GoFundMe for Fleury’s Surviving Children
Neighbors expressed shock and praised the sisters’ bravery. Community members pledged support for the grieving family.
A GoFundMe campaign now seeks donations to cover funeral expenses, provide for the children, and rebuild the family’s home.
Per the fundraiser: “Your support will help them pick up the pieces and find hope in the midst of tragedy. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.”
Ongoing Investigation
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire. Officials ask anyone with information to call the tip line at 1‑877‑TIPS‑4EC or 1‑877‑847‑7432.
