Quinton Aaron, the actor who portrayed Michael Oher in the 2009 film The Blind Side, is on life support after collapsing at his Atlanta home, TMZ reports.

According to Aaron’s wife Margarita, the 41‑year‑old lost feeling in his legs while walking up the stairs and fell, prompting her to rush him to the hospital.

Doctors ran several tests and determined Aaron has a severe blood infection. Medical teams continue evaluating the source of the infection and the cause of the sudden collapse.

Wife Says Actor Is Showing Improvement

Despite the seriousness of his condition, Margarita said she remains hopeful about his recovery. She told TMZ that Aaron is only partially relying on life‑support equipment and is able to breathe on his own to some degree.

“He’s showing a lot of improvement,” she said. “We all have faith in God that he will walk out of here fully recovered.”

Her full statement emphasized that Aaron is a “fighter” and continues responding to treatment.

Recent Medical History

Aaron’s hospitalization follows earlier health concerns. In a previous medical incident, he told the outlet he underwent testing at a Southern California facility, where doctors believed he was experiencing Type A flu and pneumonia. He has also faced other health challenges in recent years, including a severe upper respiratory infection and a significant weight‑loss effort.

Family Faces Rising Medical Costs

As Aaron remains hospitalized, his family is managing mounting medical bills and daily living expenses. His family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover:

  • Hospital and ICU costs
  • Long‑term care needs
  • Living expenses during recovery
  • Emergency support for family members

Acting Career

Aaron gained national recognition for his portrayal of Michael Oher in The Blind Side, starring alongside Sandra Bullock. The film chronicled Oher’s path from homelessness to the NFL, where he later played for the Ravens, Titans and Panthers.

His performance earned widespread praise and made him a familiar figure to audiences who connected with the film’s themes of resilience and support.
