Troy Davis was executed tonight by lethal injection at 11:08pm EST for the 1989 murder of Savannah, Georgia police officer Mark MacPhail.

Troy Davis was executed tonight by lethal injection at 11:08pm EST for the 1989 murder of Savannah, Georgia police officer Mark MacPhail.

It has been over 20 years since Davis was convicted of the 1989 murder. Yesterday, the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole denied clemency for the death row inmate.

Supporters flooded the Georgia prison where Davis was located, protesting, holding signs, in hopes to save Davis from death by lethal injection.

Last words

Reports state Davis’ last words were him maintaing his innocence, sent his condolences to the McPhail family, and urged his family to continue to fight.
