A woman who was punched by a California Highway Patrol officer will receive $1.5 million dollars under a newly reached settlement, and the officer has agreed to resign.

CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow confirmed the settlement in an emailed statement Wednesday night and an attorney for Marlene Pinnock confirmed the terms to The Associated Press.

According to msn, Pinnock’s attorney Caree Harper says they wanted to make sure that 51-year-old Pinnock could have financial stability for the rest of her life and wanted to make sure that Officer Daniel Andrew would not be an officer any longer.

The July 1 incident was captured on video. California Highway patrol officer Andrew punched Pinnock by the side of a freeway.

The video quickly spread widely on the internet and television.
