Premiere Black business directory power box officially launches world wide
Power Box is a premiere black business directory that will highlight and celebrate black owned businesses worldwide.
Power Box, a premier Black business directory, has officially launched.
It was November 2014 and “Black Friday” was approaching the Country as it was time for Thanksgiving. Much of the Black Community stated they would boycott “Black Friday” in lieu of all of the situations that had occurred throughout the year. Tami Sawyer, a 4th generation Entrepreneur and social activist thought to herself “Why boycott? Just buy black.”
As the Black Community felt under attack Tami thought to put money in the pockets of the same who felt oppressed. That is when Power Box was created.
What is Power Box?
Power Box is a premiere black business directory that will highlight and celebrate Black owned businesses worldwide.
With the motto “Transforming How We Buy. Empowering our Community” Power Box is destined to set the standards of how individuals buy and the importance of supporting small business, but especially the black owned businesses.
Black business stats
In addition, currently only 2% of every dollar earned by an African American remains within their community. By 2020, Power Box hopes to be the disruptor that moves that percentage to the double digits.
As stated on the Power Box website, “Today in 2015, there has been a resurgence of black owned businesses. In 2014 alone, black female owned businesses increased by 332%. In addition to burgeoning entrepreneurial numbers, black people are also the leading consumers in the United States.
According to Nielsen, 62% of black people believe that supporting minority business enterprises is important. 59% of black people expect the businesses they support to give back to the community in a meaningful way.”
When asked about her thoughts about the launch and her thoughts on the impact, Tami Sawyer says “The launch of Power Box is a game changer. I’m excited to release a tool that will transform buying black from an abstract thought to an action. I believe that economic empowerment is the next step in our fight for equality and Power Box is here to be a conduit towards that achievement.”
The site went live today at 10 AM EST. and the feedback thus far has been wonderful! From individuals tweeting their thoughts, to Instagram posts and Facebook posts encouraging others to visit the new site. You can visit the site at www.ourpowerbox.com.
