3 Chambers, an online media platform and festival, will present a virtual film screening of NAS: TIME IS ILLMATIC to celebrate 31 years of the classic album.
3 Chambers TIME IS ILLMATIC screening
The event will take place on Monday, April 21st at 7:00 PM (est) exclusively on Kinema.
Immediately following the screening, there will be a post-film discussion with legendary hip-hop artists Skyzoo and Mickey Factz, along with hip-hop journalist & artist Preach Jacobs, on the impact of Illmatic, their favorite tracks, and more.
Illmatic has become a hip-hop benchmark that encapsulates the socio-political outlook, enduring spirit, and collective angst of a generation of young black men searching for their voice in America.
About TIME IS ILLMATIC
TIME IS ILLMATIC tracks the musical legacy of the Jones family, handed down to Nas from his jazz musician father, Olu Dara. It also examines the social conditions and environmental influences that contributed to Nas’ worldview.
Along the way, TIME IS ILLMATIC shows how Nas—with the support of his Queensbridge neighborhood crew, the loyalty of his younger brother Jabari “Jungle” Jones, and sacrifices of his mother, Ann Jones—overcame insurmountable odds to create the greatest work of music from hip-hop’s second golden era.
How to watch
The virtual screening will be on Monday, April 21st at 7:00 PM (est) with a post-film discussion following the screening.
Tickets are on sale now on Kinema for $5.
