One dead after shooting during concert on Long Branch, New Jersey beach

Panic erupted during a concert at Pier Village in Long Branch on June 12, when reports of gunfire sent crowds fleeing the beach and boardwalk. Authorities confirmed one person is dead, though details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

A shooting at Pier Village in Long Branch, New Jersey turned a festive evening into a scene of chaos Thursday night, leaving one person dead and sparking a major investigation.

The incident occurred during a beachfront concert near Chelsea Avenue, where shots rang out just after 9 p.m., sending a panicked crowd scrambling for safety, reports NJ.com.

Videos circulating on social media show people running to safety across the sand while first responders rushed to aid a person lying motionless on the beach.

Investigation

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased. Unverified reports suggest a fight may have broken out prior to the disturbance, but officials have yet to comment on the cause.

Pier Village is a popular destination along the Long Branch beachfront known for its upscale shops, restaurants, and oceanfront views.
