A Georgia family is grieving the tragic death of 2-year-old Kaimir Jones, who was fatally mauled by dogs while reportedly left unattended at an unlicensed home daycare.

According to Valdosta police, the incident occurred at the residence of Stacy Wheeler Cobb, 48, who was operating an unauthorized daycare. Authorities allege Cobb was supposed to be watching Kaimir but was found unconscious due to substance abuse. During that time, the toddler wandered outside and opened a kennel containing two large Rottweilers. The dogs attacked him, and he died at the scene.

Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, had dropped him off earlier that day. She says she became concerned when Cobb stopped responding to messages. Following her instincts, Jones left work early and arrived to find police already at the home.

“This was a heartbreaking, devastating and traumatizing scene that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” Jones wrote on her GoFundMe page. “I found my baby like this.”

Charges against babysitter

Police have charged Cobb with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children. She was booked into the Lowndes County Jail. Animal control officers removed the two Rottweilers involved in the attack, along with a third dog found at the home.

Investigators confirmed Kaimir had been left alone for over two hours. Cobb reportedly told police she assumed the child was napping. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Kaimir unlocking the door and entering the backyard before the fatal attack.

Jones says she was never notified by police and only learned of the tragedy after arriving at the scene. She is now seeking community support to cover funeral expenses, as she did not have life insurance for her son.

“I’m a single mom of one child, my heart, my 2-year-old, Kaimir Jones,” she wrote. “Anything will help and anything is appreciated.”

The investigation remains active, and officials say additional charges may follow.

GoFundMe campaign created for support

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist the family during this devastating time. Community members are encouraged to donate and share the fundraiser to honor Kaimir’s memory and support his grieving mother.
