FORT WORTH, Texas — Joshua Allen, the electrifying winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, died after being struck by a train in Fort Worth on September 30. He was 36.

Tragic incident claimed promising life

Allen’s death shocked the dance world. Known for his gravity-defying moves and radiant generosity, Allen inspired millions with his performances and mentorship. His passing leaves a deep void in the artistic community.

Local reports state that emergency responders discovered Allen near railroad tracks around 1 a.m. and transported him to the hospital. He later died in the emergency room.

GoFundMe launched to support Joshua Allen Memorial

In response, Allen’s family and close friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his memorial services. The fundraiser honors Allen’s legacy with a four-part “Homegoing” celebration: wake, funeral, burial, and repass. His funeral is scheduled for October 24.

The campaign’s goal is $40,000 to meet the funeral home’s pre-payment deadline and ensure services remain on schedule.

“Joshua didn’t just dance — he moved the world,” the campaign reads. “If he ever inspired you, made you smile, or reminded you why art matters — please give what you can.”

Allen rose to fame in 2008, becoming the first hip-hop dancer to win the hit competition show. His dynamic style, humility, and emotional depth made him a beloved figure in the dance community and beyond.

Throughout his career, Allen remained grounded. He mentored young dancers, collaborated across genres, and brought joy wherever he performed.
