ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — On Oct. 8, a stray bullet fatally struck 14-year-old Duwan Morgan while he played video games in his bedroom. Gunfire outside his home pierced a window and hit him, according to St. Louis County Police.

Morgan died at the scene in his mother’s arms. “She is barely eating. It’s a nightmare,” Erica Davis, Morgan’s aunt told ABC News. “No mother should ever have to face such a horrible tragedy.”

Keshia Morgan, who had been downstairs at the time, rushed to her son’s room after hearing gunfire. “He was minding his business, doing nothing,” a family member told local media KSDK. “Just sitting in his room. And now he’s gone”.

The shooting occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Hobkirk Drive in the Glasgow Village neighborhood. Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 calls. Investigators say multiple individuals exchanged gunfire outside, and one of the bullets struck Morgan.

Arrests and Investigation

No arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210. “The investigation remains active,” police said. “Additional information will be disseminated as it becomes available.”

GoFundMe campaign created for beloved 14-year-old

Morgan had recently started high school and dreamed of a future in music and podcasting. His family described him as a “quiet, thoughtful” teen who loved nature and fishing. A GoFundMe page was created to honor his memory and support his grieving family.

“This loss has left an indescribable void,” said his mother. “No child should die like this”.
