Family demands justice after Georgia man fatally beaten

Investigators believe attackers struck Taha Tahanur repeatedly, including in the head, before placing him in his own car.

Authorities say 33‑year‑old Taha Ibrahim Tahanur died after a violent assault on Nov. 17 in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Investigators believe attackers struck him repeatedly, including in the head, before placing him in his own car.

Witnesses reported seeing three people lift Tahanur into the vehicle before it drove away.

Deputies later found him unresponsive at an apartment complex off Summit Creek Drive near Highway 10.

Arrests Announced in Taha Tahanur’s Murder Case

On Thursday, deputies arrested Justin Scott Waters, 33, of Decatur, and charged him with felony murder, per WCBS-TV.

According to arrest warrant, Waters allegedly assaulted Tahanur during an altercation that ended in his death.

Authorities also arrested Abel Mehari, a longtime friend of Tahanur, and charged him with murder.

Both men remain in custody at the DeKalb County Jail without bond, officials confirmed.

The DeKalb County Police Department says the investigation remains open and active.

Taha Tahanur’s Sister Speaks Out Against Accused

Tahanur’s sister, Iman, expressed anger toward the suspects, calling one “a terrible person” who beat her brother to death.

She told 11 Alive Tahanur was brilliant, gifted, and driven, yet surrounded by “a lot of terrible friends.”

Iman questioned why the men did not leave him at a hospital, where he might have survived.

“You literally let him die in the car. He could have got help,” she said.

Family Confronts Painful Loss

Iman recalled breaking the news to her parents, describing it as the hardest moment of her life.

“I’ve never seen my mom like that. I’ve never seen my dad cry,” she told the outlet.

She emphasized her brother’s achievements, noting he skipped a grade and started college at 17.

Relatives continue to mourn, while authorities urge anyone with information to contact investigators.
