Louisiana Sheriff’s Deputy, father of three, fatally shot by brother on Thanksgiving
Shaquille Guerin, a Louisiana sheriff’s deputy, was fatally shot by his brother on Thanksgiving night, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Marigold Lane in St. John the Baptist Parish.
Officials said Guerin, 35, was found in the street with at least one gunshot wound.
Immediate Response and Arrest
Emergency crews and fellow deputies attempted life‑saving measures, but Guerin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified his brother, Darius Guerin, 32, as the suspected shooter.
Authorities said he fled before deputies arrived, later refusing to stop for a traffic stop.
Law enforcement pursued him, and deputies took him into custody after he attempted to run away.
A firearm was recovered along the path where he fled, investigators reported.
Louisiana Sheriff’s Deputy Shaquille Guerin’s Service and Legacy
Deputy Guerin had served with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office for eight years.
He worked in the uniform patrol division and also served in the detective bureau.
Family Impact and Charges
Guerin is survived by his wife and three children.
Authorities confirmed Darius Guerin faces a second‑degree murder charge.
