A viral GoFundMe campaign for the family of Renee Good has been verified as authentic, a GoFundMe spokesperson told Unheard Voices Magazine.

On Friday, after the fundraiser raised more than $1.5 million, organizers closed the campaign.

“Thank you for your generosity. We’ve closed this GoFundMe and will place the funds in a trust for the family”, the campaign read.

Shooting Sparked National Outcry

Good, 37, died on Jan. 7 after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot her in Minneapolis. Multiple videos show Good turning her vehicle away from the officer when the agent fired. However, federal officials initially claimed she drove toward the agent. The footage quickly contradicted that account, and the videos spread widely online.

Renee Good GoFundMe Surges Past Goal

The GoFundMe campaign launched hours after Good’s death. It aimed to support her wife, Becca, and their six‑year‑old son. The fundraiser set a $50,000 goal, yet donations surged past that mark within a day. Good was a beloved mother who also had two older children from her first marriage, according to media reports.

Community Support Continues

The campaign reflects widespread outrage and grief. Meanwhile, calls for a full investigation continue to intensify as more details emerge.

New Details About the ICE Officer

Federal officials have identified the ICE agent who shot Good as Jonathan Ross, an Iraq War veteran and longtime federal officer. Records show Ross has served as a deportation officer with ICE since 2015 and previously worked nearly two decades in federal border enforcement. He was also involved in a 2025 incident in Bloomington, Minnesota, where a vehicle dragged him roughly 50 yards during an arrest attempt.

Newly released video, recorded from Ross’s perspective, shows him circling Good’s SUV moments before the shooting, according to reporting from People and CBS News. The footage contradicts early federal statements and has intensified scrutiny of Ross’s actions. As of Jan. 9, authorities have not charged Ross, and the FBI is leading the investigation into Good’s killing
