HOMEWOOD, Ala. — A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support the newborn daughter of Precious Elicia J’anae Johnson, the Alabama mother fatally shot inside her hospital room on March 1, 2026. Police say her husband, Kynath William Terry Jr., then died by suicide moments later.

Johnson had just given birth hours before. Police say the newborn wasn’t in the room when tradegy struck.

GoFundMe Seeks Support for Precious Elicia J’anae Johnson’s Baby

The fundraiser, launched by Johnson’s family, aims to cover funeral expenses and long‑term care for the couple’s newborn daughter, Alaia.

The tragedy shattered their lives, the family wrote.

They stated:

“Our beloved daughter Precious lost her life in a heartbreaking homicide-suicide that occurred inside Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Homewood, Alabama. What should have been a place of care and safety became the place where our family’s world was forever changed.”

The family described Johnson as “a loving daughter, a caring mother, and a beautiful soul who meant everything to our family.” They added that she had “dreams, a future, and most importantly, a precious baby girl named Alaia who depended on her.”

They said they now face “the unimaginable reality of burying our daughter while stepping in to raise our granddaughter, who has suddenly lost both of her parents.”

Fundraiser Outlines Immediate and Long‑Term Needs

According to the GoFundMe, donations will help with:

  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • Immediate necessities for baby Alaia
  • Long‑term support for raising her
  • Counseling and emotional services
  • Legal and advocacy efforts related to the case

The family wrote that they want Alaia to grow up knowing “that her mother was loved and that people from everywhere came together to support her during the darkest time in our lives.” They closed their message with, “Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and prayers.”

Police Say Alabama Mother’s Shooting Was a Murder‑Suicide

Homewood police said they responded to the Women’s Center at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital around 9:25 p.m. Officers found Johnson, 24, and Terry, 19, dead from gunshot wounds.

Investigators said the case appears to be a domestic‑related murder‑suicide. No other patients or staff were injured.
