Hiatus Kaiyote – “Breathing Underwater” Single (Music Review)

I got “turned out” by the group Hiatus Kaiyote a while back while surfing my usual music sites on the internet. I kept seeing verbal rants about something called Hiatus Kaiyote and Nai Palm, everywhere I stepped and decided to take the trip to find out what these names meant.
My thoughts on Hiatus Kaiyote
I stumbled upon the track “Nakamarra” that was circulating and let’s just say, I was floored, so this was the beginning of a musical love affair.
Saying I’m excited about new material is an understatement. I was salivating for the release of “Breathing Underwater”.
Talk about twists, turns and goose bumps to boot. That’s exactly my initial reaction to the eargasm that is Hiatus Kaiyote’s, “Breathing Underwater”, from their forthcoming second release, “Choose Your Weapon”.
Soulful in every bit that Nai Palm hits you vocally, the haze of the beat just hovering above your head until it DROPS!
Truly, it is a music fanatics DREAM to hear musical notes and vocals intertwined like this. Since my first taste of Nai Palm’s vocal abilities, she takes you on a vocal ride when she sings. Her cadence is just branded vocally, on the mere acrobatics that she’s capable of. As it ends, it just slowly takes you there and leaves you musically spent.
