Marion Christopher Barry Jr passes away
The only son of the former D.C. mayor was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning, WUSA reports.
According to CBS News, no cause of death has been officially announced. However, they have been several reports the younger Barry died of a drug overdose. The Washinton Post reports, according to a police report, aid that Barry stepped outside of a residence on Pomeroy Road Southeast and smoked K-2 — a type of synthetic drug — and PCP.
“Upon returning the complainant was ‘acting crazy/different’ and then he suddenly ‘dropped,’” the report said.
He was found by his girlfriend. He was taken to George Washington University hospital where he later died.
Political career
The Marion Christopher Barry Jr had struggled with drug use. Christopher Barry followed in his dad’s political footsteps, Johnson reports, having attempted to run for a D.C. Ward 8 council seat.
