After the Golden Globe’s announced nominations for its 2018 awards show, Jordan Peele’s movie ‘Get Out’ nomination caused some confusion. The critically acclaimed film was placed in the musical/comedy category.
Record straight about Get Out movie
Jordan Peele, the director and writer of the movie, went on the ‘The Late Show’ with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night, to set the record straight.
“I submitted it as a documentary,” Peele told Colbert, reaffirming a statement he made earlier that day on twitter.

A documentary?
Peele says the reason why he submitted the movie as a documentary because it is ‘truth”.
“Here’s the thing, the movie is truth,” he continued. “The thing that resonated with people was truth, so for me it’s more of a historical biopic.”
The nomination of Peele’s movie, which was billed as a thriller and highlights racial issues, definitely raised some questions. But there are only two categories for the Globes, drama and musical/comedy, leaving it difficult to place movies.
Colbert also remarked on the fact that ‘Get Out’ has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and asked Peele what he thought the missing 1% was.
“Racism,” Peele responded.
