Former Olympian Emmit King fatally shot in Alabama

Fatal incident
King, 62, was killed during a shootout Sunday in Bessemer, where he argued with Willie Albert Wells, 60, AL.com reported.
According to the report, King and Wells knew each other and were arguing back and forth when both pulled guns and fired.
Emmit King, two-time Olympian
Emmit King was a retired track and field sprinter and a two-time member of the American relay team for the Summer Olympics in 1984 and 1988, but he did not compete.
A Hueytown High School graduate, King competed for Jefferson State Community College and the University of Alabama.
King was also the NCAA 100-meter national champion in 1983 and took the bronze medal in the men’s 100 meters at the 1983 World Championships, WVTM reported.
No other details about what led up to the deadly confrontation were available, according to the report.
