A 30-year-old Bronx woman was fatally stabbed and her husband wounded during a reported violent mugging in Pelham Bay Park. The attack occurred shortly after the couple pulled over near City Island Road and Park Drive to meet a friend for dinner.

Details: Bronx woman fatally stabbed

According to the NYPD, the incident unfolded around 8:10 p.m. when Anthonella Contreras Linarez remained in the car while her husband stepped into nearby bushes to urinate. During that brief moment, two men on a scooter approached the vehicle and demanded money from Linarez.

When she refused, one suspect jumped off the scooter and stabbed her multiple times in the face, neck, and torso. Her husband rushed back and was slashed in the right arm before the assailants fled the scene.

The couple drove themselves to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. Linarez was pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. Her husband, 44, survived with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have not made any arrests. Investigators are working to verify the husband’s account and are actively searching for surveillance footage. Officers have also begun gathering evidence at the couple’s Crotona Park East apartment.

The NYPD urges anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
