On Dec. 7, officers responded to 9135 Roosevelt Highway around 1:15 p.m. after receiving a call about a person shot. Fire officials and police found Goodman dead in the parking lot.

Investigators said the shooting followed an argument between Goodman and the restaurant’s manager. The confrontation escalated quickly, ending in gunfire.

Bojangles Shooting Suspect Arrested

Palmetto Police arrested Maurice Nolan Evans of Forest Park. He faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Authorities confirmed Evans is a Bojangles employee. He was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

Family members said Goodman rushed to the restaurant because his teenage daughter, who works there, called for help.

Relatives said the manager allegedly waited for Goodman in the parking lot before the deadly encounter.

Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials have not released further details about what sparked the argument.

Affectionately known as “Buba”, family members described Goodman as a devoted father who stepped in to protect his daughter. They said his death leaves a painful void.
