As the strange case of Chavis Carter continues, the family has hired an attorney from the famed Johnny Cochran law firm.

After growing tired of the police not giving them answers, the family is seeking to find answers in Chavis Carter’s suspicious death.

On July 28th, Carter was arrested by Jonesboro, Ark police after they found he had an outstanding warrant in Mississippi. Officers searched him (twice), put handcuffs on, and placed him in the back of a squad car. Moments later he was dead in what police say was a suicide.

Theresa Carter, Chavis’ mother said:

“I can’t get it together. I still can’t put the story together it just don’t add up,” said Teresa Carter, the victim’s mother.

She points to conflicting stories where one police report says they found her son after hearing banging noises, and another says it was after smelling smoke.

She says Jonesboro Police won’t give her any answers, so she hired a lawyer from the famed law firm.

The two officers involved in the arrest are on administrative leave.
