Alabama teen found dismembered Markavious Mark Rumph

An Alabama family is demanding answers after Markavious “Mark” Rumph, an 18‑year‑old from Eufaula, was found dead in the woods days after he went missing. His parents say they located his charred and dismembered remains one day after spending Mother’s Day searching for him in the rain.

Family Says Rumph Was Last Seen Leaving With a Friend

Rumph was reported missing after he was last seen at a gas station in Eufaula, Alabama, on May 7, according to the Eufaula Police Department. Police confirmed on May 11 that they had found human remains along a nearby road but did not publicly identify the victim.

His family later confirmed Rumph’s identity through a GoFundMe page and in interviews with local station WRBL.

Relatives told WRBL that Rumph was last seen leaving with a friend. The outlet reported he was last seen on May 7. When he did not return to his grandmother’s home, the family organized their own search effort. Volunteers joined them as they combed wooded areas for five days.

Mother Says She Found Her Son’s Body Herself

Rumph’s mother, Yolanda Wynn, described the emotional toll of searching for her son on Mother’s Day.

“Me and my family in the rain on Mother’s Day, I walked through those woods,” she told WRBL.

Wynn also alleged to the outlet that she received no assistance from Eufaula police during the search.

Rumph’s father told WRBL the moment they found their son and the brutality of what happened to him.

“Burned my baby, shot my baby, burned him up and chopped him up,” he said.

He added that Rumph had recently earned his GED and planned to attend welding school. “He was the life of the party awas gonna make you laugh,” he said.

GoFundMe Launched to Support Family

A fundraiser created to help Rumph’s parents with funeral costs, therapy, and daily expenses describes him as a motivated young man with a promising future.

“Mark was an 18‑year‑old with a bright future ahead of him. He had recently obtained his GED and was truly aiming for the stars, inspiring those around him with his determination and hope,” the GoFundMe reads.

The investigation into Rumph’s death remains ongoing. Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects.
