Actor Michael B. Jordan will host “MBJam17″ to support Lupus LA

One of my favorite actors, Michael B. Jordan, has announced he will host MBJam17 in support of Lupus LA.

Michael says Lupus LA is an organization that has provided services to his mother, Donna Jordan, throughout her experience with Lupus. The inaugural benefit event for Lupus LA, will welcome athletes, artists, families and kids for:

• a courtside carnival featuring
• basketball-themed entertainment,
• clinics
• interactive displays.

The actor and Lupus ambassador will be joined by:

• special guest and Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin,
• along with master of ceremonies Terrence J, formerly of E! News.

“This event is to celebrate the strength of my mother, Donna Jordan, who thrives with Lupus as a result of the incredible services provided to her by Lupus LA,” the award-winning actor said via a press release. “I hope MBJam will raise awareness for those suffering with lupus and help us take steps towards finding a cure.”

His connection to the organization

In a quote published to the organization’s newsletter, Jordan shared how he found out about Lupus LA and the outlet it provides for his mother.

“I found Lupus LA through the WME Foundation. They knew my mother had lupus. I wanted to find an organization to support that meant something to me personally,” the Lupus LA ambassador said. “My mission is to spread the word about lupus and further the research to help find a cure for my mom and others.”

Created in 2000, Lupus LA  is a non-profit healthcare organization dedicated to finding the causes of and a cure for lupus while providing support, services and hope to all who have Lupus. Lupus LA raises funds for its patient programs, local rheumatology fellowships and research projects and for our national research partner, the Lupus Research Alliance (LRA).

The event will take place Sept. 16 from 2-5:30 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey. You can purchase tickets here.
