Overcoming Your Fears & Live On Purpose, FEARLESS book

Unheard Voices recently had the opportunity to attend a book release party for three women who collaborated to write a book about becoming fearless, turning a minor setback into a major comeback.

The book entitled FEARLESS by Candace Kelley, Caryl Lucas and Gilda Rogers, looks at a bold approach to reinventing your life.

As described in the synopsis, the book looks at these fearless women leaving their J-O-B, to explore life.

Through their individual stories, you’ll discover what it means to have faith and to believe in yourself.

Remaining fearless is the basis for reinvention. But it also helped to define their God given talent.

They cast fear aside and got busy reinventing their lives. And this book will give you the tools needed to create your own reality, too.

From forming your own Board of Directors to the Reinvention Action Challenge, you’ll embrace what it means to live on purpose.

Sounds like a great book, right?

These three women are boldly approaching life that many of us are afraid to let our mouths taste. Why are we so afraid to live on purpose?

We get caught up so much in traditionalism, we fear living beyond what society tells us is normalcy.

The fear is so great that when your situation becomes comfortable, all other options are second to none.

What if your worst fear comes true?

Are you going to allow the fear to derail your life, or reinvent your life?

One of my favorite phrases is, “if opportunity doesn’t knock build a door”.

The basis of this quote is, if you wait around for an opportunity to come knocking at your door, you may never receive what you’re looking for.

But if you embrace your desires, creativity, and utilize the right tools, you can create your own reality.

From early on, I took on this bold approach to living life. I was one that never agreed with normalcy, and looked far beyond what society says we should do.

I was always an entrepreneur at heart, but I didn’t understand its meaning until I seen how underrepresented African Americans are in the business sector.

African Americans only account for 3% of the business world sector who are actually business owners.

Another possible answer I could give besides lack of finances for African American businesses is, fear.

Fear. That word that stares you right in the face, that you are afraid to embrace.

I can remember when I told several people about starting an online magazine because the job market was so low, they cringed.

Not cringed at the fact I was starting an online magazine, but cringed at the fact that I was embracing fear, breaking normalcy, and living on purpose.

The normal to them was getting a full-time job after graduating college.

The problem was they weren’t any available, and I wasn’t waiting around for it to come.  I challenged myself, and embraced my creativeness.

Don’t get me wrong, the road is definitely not an easy one. There will be obstacles and barriers that will come your way.  But how can we overcome fear, if we don’t embrace it?

Losing your job is just what you might have needed to start living your life on purpose.

Here are a couple⁹ of steps to begin living your life on purpose:

1. Embrace your fears. Ask yourself what are you afraid of? Are you afraid of losing your job? Losing financial stability? Failure? Getting a clear understanding on what you’re afraid of can eliminate anxiety.

2. Explore your passions. What are you good at? What are your interests?

3. Create a plan. As Caryl Lucas, Gilda Rogers, and Candance Kelley say, “become your own Board of Directors by creating an action plan” to taking steps and strides to reinventing your life.

4. Believe in yourself. The most important factor is to believe in you.
