American police killings are increasing at an alarming rate in 2017, according to new data.

Though the data increase is disturbing, few mainstream media outlets have reported on it this year, with most focusing their attention on Donald Trump’s presidency.

While the focus on Trump’s presidency is great, we must not fail to notice the rate of police killings of American citizens is higher than any month in 2016 according to killedbypolice.net.

Statistics

With at least 112 deaths accounted for, the month of February was actually worse than January 2017 where there were 103 deaths by police in February 2016.

Mapping Police Violence, which composites data of police killings from various sources, is working on analyzing the raw data to see if any patterns have emerged.
