Her death marks the fourth body recovered from Houston-area waterways in just one week.

An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences revealed no signs of trauma or foul play. The cause of death remains under investigation, pending a final report from the medical examiner.

McKissic’s family reported her missing on Sept. 14 after she failed to return home from class. Volunteers and law enforcement searched extensively before locating her body one day later.

Investigation to identify if there is a possible pattern

Meanwhile, investigators are working to identify patterns among the four cases. Officials have not confirmed any direct connections, but they continue to urge residents to stay vigilant.

Community members have begun organizing vigils and support groups for the victims’ families. Friends and classmates described McKissic as a bright, ambitious student who had a deep passion for helping others. Her death has left classmates and loved ones devastated.

As the investigation continues, authorities ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or local law enforcement.
