What happened to AvaLynn? : Family demands answers!
The family of AvaLynn demands answers on what happened to the 5-year-old at school after she came home with a bruised face.
I’m sure you’ve seen a picture of a child with a bruised face circulating around the internet.
The image is AvaLynn, whose family says she was brutally beaten at school by fellow classmates, but claims the school has turned a blind-eye.
Lacey Harris, the mother of a Mississippi kindergartener, claims that her daughter was attacked by another child at the school playground, but the school district says the girl was hurt on her own.
Family members and friends started a #JusticeForAvaLynn campaign to spread awareness about what’s going on in their hometown of Mississippi.
Harris filed a police report with the Pascagoula Police Department after her daughter, AvaLynn, came home from school with “her face swollen, cut, and bruised beyond recognition,” according to a description of the incident posted to the Facebook group “Justice For AvaLynn.”
The school, however, claims that AvaLynn injured herself and that no other students are responsible for her injuries, according to AL.com.
The Pascagoula Police Department and school district said they have an ongoing investigation into what happened.
“It’s still ongoing and pending,” Pascagoula Capt. Shannon Massey said to the GulfLive. “We’re investigating it as leads are developed.”
A GoFundMe campaign was also started to raise money for AvaLynn’s “medical needs and travel expenses.”
