Flavor Flav announces SHE Weekend to celebrate women’s sports and Olympic athletes
LAS VEGAS — Flavor Flav has announced SHE Weekend unveiling a four‑day Las Vegas celebration designed to honor women’s sports and Olympic athletes.
The Public Enemy rapper said the concept began when he wanted to celebrate the U.S. women’s hockey team after its gold‑medal win at the 2026 Winter Olympics. What started as a single congratulatory tweet quickly grew as fans asked how they could help support the athletes.
“Introducing: Flavor Flav’s SHE Weekend (Sports & Hospitality) Entertainment. July 16–19. Las Vegas. It started with a tweet. Now it’s a movement,” he wrote on X. He said the weekend aims to create “real impact” for women’s sports and the athletes who often compete with limited financial backing.
GoFundMe Raises More Than $133,000 for She Weekend
In response to the early interest, Flavor Flav launched a GoFundMe to support both the athletes and the celebration. The fundraiser has now surpassed $133,000, according to the campaign page. He said he hopes the effort will extend beyond the July event and help athletes who represent the United States while balancing training with full‑time jobs.
MGM Resorts Partnership Expands the Vision
Flavor Flav partnered with MGM Resorts to bring the weekend to the Las Vegas Strip. The collaboration allows the event to expand beyond hockey and include women across sports, including Olympians from both the Summer and Winter Games.
According to FOX 5, SHE Weekend will feature recognition ceremonies, receptions, sponsor‑connection opportunities and several meet‑and‑greets for fans. Organizers say the goal is to give athletes their flowers while also building long‑term support networks.
A Track Record of Supporting Women Athletes
Flavor Flav has spent recent years using his platform to champion women’s sports. He served as the official hype man for the U.S. bobsled team at the 2026 Winter Olympics and sponsors both the men’s and women’s U.S. water polo teams. He also helped raise funds for the women’s water polo squad to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Flavor Flav has frequently highlighted the financial challenges women athletes face. He noted that many train at elite levels while working multiple jobs and securing limited endorsement deals.
He said he wants to show that women athletes should be household names.
