DMX showed his true heart at a recent fundraiser.
New York’s police officers and fire fighters enjoyed a special performance from one of hip-hop’s greatest emcees.
DMX performed “The Ruff Ryders Anthem” at the “Toughman Competition,” a boxing-fundraising event between Yonkers police and fire fighters, and helped raise $80,000.
According to sources, the New York emcee gave a moving performance in front of a crowd of about 2,000. During the performance, DMX gave a heartfelt speech thanking the men who saved his life.
“There are a few officers in here tonight that on February 8th … saved my life,” DMX said in a video obtained by TMZ. “To go from at one point running from the police … to having those same police save my life — true heroes.”
In February, DMX, real name Earl Simmons, was rushed to the hospital after he was found unconscious outside a Yonkers hotel. Some of the police that were participating in the event found him next to a car and performed CPR until his pulse returned.
