In issues twenty-three and twenty-four of the Godzilla King of the Monsters comic book series by Marvel, the Avengers could not defeat Godzilla.

No matter what they did, they could not bring down this titan.

King of The Monsters

This held to be true in the movie world when Godzilla: King of the Monsters came out. Avengers Endgame with all the problems I expressed in Jersey Voices Magazine made that movie a huge disappointment.

In addition, Jurassic World appeared almost to be a duplicate of Jurassic Park two. What sent those two movies and all of its characters running, Godzilla, the ultimate king of the monsters.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters does not disappoint.

From beginning to end, this film kept me on the edge of my seat. It was filled with action and the monsters were very well done. Furthermore, the movie paid homage to Akira Ifukube, who scored the music to the original Godzilla films. Throughout Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Akira Ifukube’s music was used.

Godzilla the first movie

The movie also paid homage to the very first Godzilla movie, Gojira 1954.

The death scene of Ken Watanabe’s Dr. Serizawa was somewhat similar to the death scene of Akihiko Hirata’s Dr. Serizawa.

This movie also had the same weapon used in Gojira 1954 to kill Godzilla which was the Oxygen Destroyer. The Oxygen Destroyer was Godzilla’s Kryptonite, which was used to kill Superman.

King of the Monsters : Twin Fairies

Furthermore, this movie paid homage to the Twin Fairies, the Shobijin, from the Mothra movies. For example, in Godzilla: King of the Monsters there was a scene of pictures that had twin sisters which was without a doubt a shout to the Twin Fairies.

Past movies

Besides paying homage to past movies, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, had very heroic scenes.

When Godzilla took on his ultimate enemy the three headed dragon, Ghidorah, for the first time, his crashing entrance reminded me of Batman’s entrance in the Dark Knight.

Speaking of the Batman movies, the first encounter with Ghidorah knowing Godzilla would not prevail reminded me of when Batman took on Bane for their first encounter in the Dark Knight Rises. We know how that fight ended.

This movie brought out the child in me because when Godzilla became a nuclear bomb with his ultimate power, it reminded me of the video game from Nintendo Gamecube, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. In that game Godzilla could be charged up like a nuclear explosion. His appearance like a nuclear explosion could be seen in other moives such as Godzilla vs Destoroyah, Godzilla vs Mothra 1992, and Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla II.

King of the Monsters Melee

Overall Godzilla: King of the Monsters was a great monster melee like past films such as Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, Godzilla vs Monster Zero, Destroy All Monsters, and Godzilla Mothra King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. It also had the mythology of the Hydra. When a Hydra’s head was cut off a new one would grow. The same principle was applied to King Ghidorah.

P.S. I liked the Woolly Mammoth creature in this film because it reminded me of when I had a model of the Woolly Mammoth engaged in battle with the model T-rex and Shogun Godzilla. In addition, I liked the new version of Rodan. Incredible speed and he was everywhere! Also the giant spider looked like something out of Son of Godzilla.

It appeared that some of my ideas was used from my outline I wrote (See Link Below: I Tried). What do you think?

Enjoy Ray Harryhausen’s Hydra clip.
