Patrick Ian Polk, the creator of the critically acclaimed LOGO TV series Noah’s Arc, presents his newest film Blackbird.
About Blackbird by Patrick Ian Polk
It’s a film that every young gay woman and man should see.
Blackbird is an intense drama that is an adaptation of the novel Larry Duplechan.
Starring Monique, Isaiah Washington, DWoods (formerly of Danity Kane), the film tells the story of a young church choir singer who realizes he’s gay. The film focuses on the struggle he endures while he tries to figure out who he is.
Blackbird is a film about the choices people are forced to make as they struggle to figure out how to be themselves,” says Executive Producer Sidney Hicks. “And why should just being who you are be a struggle? Since Mo’Nique won the Oscar, we have received a flood of scripts, but nothing captured our attention until Isaiah — who we have a high level of respect for — sent us ‘Blackbird.’”
Premiere date
Shot in Mississippi, the film will premiere February 16th at Pan-African Film Festival at Rave Cinemas in Los Angeles.
