Music Review: Lady Gaga’s, “Perfect Illusion” Single

It has been three years and sometime later since we’ve received any newness from GAGA. The wait was cut last night when she released, “Perfect Illusion” the single, and when I say, “OMG, I mean it”.
Since her musical inception she has taken certain aspects of her “musical heroes”, mixed them up within herself and out popped Lady Gaga of “The Fame Monster”. Polishing off what Madonna, Janet and certain entertainers that “transform” themselves within each project they release. These are not merely that, but carefully crafted versions of themselves that as human beings we do naturally. We evolve and change.
This single, evokes that RAWNESS, EDGE of the Lady Gaga that performed with Lady Starlight at Lollapalooza in 2007. That girl who was musically hungry, knew her worth and talent, and would stop at nothing to get what she felt she deserved. I’m in LOVE with this and I look for a more stripped down version of their going forward. Of course, she will be theatrical in some type of way…but I look for THIS project and her visuals to be just that SIMPLE in texture, emotion and musical style (which is what is evoked on her IG page), yet hit hard in your GUT!
Come on GAGA, I’m ready!
