Authorities have confirmed 13 people have died and more than 100 people injured when a white van plowed into crowds in Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas area.
Barcelona attack
Authorities say the man who plowed into one of the busiest squares of the city, is still at large. Two arrests have been made and the suspects are being treated as terrorists.
Spanish media has identified Driss Oukabir as the person who rented the van used in the attack, citing information from the national police force. He is reported to have rented the vehicle from the nearby town of Santa Perpetua de la Mogada.
The Independent says Isis has claimed responsibility for the attack, which has also been linked to an earlier house explosion in the city of Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona.
