LEARNING CENTERS

Mr. Wronko set up his classroom with multiple learning centers.

Learning centers

For instance, the writing center, reading center, research center, and maker space center was all created for students to gain as much as possible from their World History class. In addition, a special center was added which was the Ghana center.

When students rotate every fifteen minutes between each center, they have the opportunity to talk to the students in Ghana.

Presentations

During the rotation Mr. Wronko’s students gave presentations on the Roman Numerals, the Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World, Alexander the Great, and the Macedonian Phalanx.

Besides the students presentations, Mr. Wronko gave his own presentation for his class and the students in Ghana which dealt with the gifts he received from the Chinese Exchange students, images from the magazine of the Life of King Tut, his first publication of the Cretaceous Warzone project in Prehistoric Times Magazine issue 93 (also discussed Jozabad Abi-Jaja Caldwell drawings in Prehistoric Times Magazine issue 120) Chinese Philosophy of Confucianism and Chuang-Tzu, and Epicurus.

Mr. Wronko showed the students in Ghana two papers he wrote based on Confucianism and Chuang-Tzu and Epicurus for his Masters Class at Monmouth University, West Long Branch New Jersey. He read them a segment from each paper.

This segment was from the Confucianism and Chuang-Tzu paper:

Social and political events determined whether the philosophies of Confucianism or Chuang-Tzu would be dominant during the Han Dynasty and after its fall. For instance, social and political events led to Confucianism not only being chosen but allowing it to be successful in bringing together a growing Han Dynasty. This could be seen when this philosophy was used by the emperors to not only govern the masses but also create an orderly society in which everyone would be unified in thought. However, social and political events such as corruption, greed, and uprisings led to the fall of the Han Dynasty. This collapse allowed the ideas of Chuang-Tzu to prosper. Chuang-Tzu would not only be studied but also be the subject to the commentaries of Wang Pi and Kuo Hsiang. Chuang-Tzu ideas would then fall over into Buddhism as seen in Sengchao’s idea of the universe.

This segment was from the paper on Epicurus:

Epicurism is a philosophy based on ethics and selflessness, but one that was utilized by its creator for purposes that were anything but. This paper is about how Epicurus developed his philosophy based on his early life experiences and ultimately used his philosophy as a self-serving tool to improve his own quality of life. To understand how Epicurus created and used Epicureanism, there must be an understanding of how Epicurus came to develop his philosophies, the garden in which he preached his philosophies, his death, and last will and testament.
