Gospel singing legend and COGIC Bishop Rance Allen died Saturday morning at the age of 71, according to his family.
Gospel singing legend Bishop Rance Allen died Saturday morning, according to his family.
Born on November 20, 1948, Allen was an American Bishop, Minister, and gospel musician, and the founder and leader of the famed Rance Allen Group.
Known for his extremely wide vocal range and powerful singing voice, Allen became known as the main lead vocalist and the leader of the influential group.
Bishop Allen was the pastor of New Bethel Church Of God In Christ in Toledo, since its July 1985 establishment. The Church of God in Christ elevated Allen to Bishop in November 2011 for the Michigan Northwestern Harvest Jurisdiction.
He was 71.
