Autumn Lockwood becomes first Black woman coach to win a Super Bowl

Lockwood joined the Eagles staff in August 2022, serving as the team’s strength and conditioning associate. She was named an associate performance coach by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2023 offseason.

Autumn Lockwood became the first Black female coach to ever win the Super Bowl in her third year with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to the NFL.

Lockwood joined the Eagles staff in August 2022, serving as the football team’s strength and conditioning associate. She was named an associate performance coach by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2023 offseason.

Autumn Lockwood makes history

A native of Media, Pa., Lockwood graduated from the University of Arizona in 2015 with a degree in criminal justice. She obtained her master’s degree in sports management from East Tennessee State University in 2020.

Before joining the Eagles, Lockwood worked at the University of Houston as the director of sports performance in 2021. The following year, she became an assistant director of basketball sports performance at East Tennessee State.

Lockwood is just the fourth woman to ever coach in the Super Bowl in the Eagle’s first appearance 2022.
