Being a dark-skin African American woman, this documentary hits straight home.
I have my fair share of stories from name calling to feeling less than a woman because of my darker skin.
It was worse in my childhood years, but as a 25-year-old woman, I can still say I experience the attitudes. It’s a sad reality, but discrimination can exist within your own race.
Unfortunately, particularly in the Black community, there has been a division between women of color.

Dark Girls documentary looks at the stereotypes, bias, and attitudes toward color; particularly dark-skin women.
The film, directed by Bill Duke and D. Channsin Berry, is set for release in Fall/Winter 2011.
