Deion Sanders named Jackson State University’s head football coach
Hall of Famer Deion Sanders was officially named Jackson State University’s new head football coach on Monday.
Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has been named Jackson State University’s new head football coach.
Deion Sanders is headed to Jackson State
This is major for college sports, especially for HBCUs. It shows HBCUs can secure high-profile athletes to lead their programs in hopes of a winning season.
“I believe we can be a pillar of HBCUs,” Sanders said during a press conference after he was introduced as the new coach.
Sanders broke the news Sunday on the debut episode of his Barstool podcast “@21st and Prime.” He described the move to become the next head coach of Jackson State as a “God Move”. He said, “God called me to Jackson State.”
His first Division I football
This will be Sanders first Division 1 head football coaching opportunity.
Regarded as one of the best athletes to ever play, Sanders will lead the Tigers into a 2021 year where they will play two seasons of football-an 8 game Spring schedule and a Fall schedule as well.
