2017 Jersey Shore Urban Book Expo highlights burgeoning authors
Despite the Nor’easter, the first annual Jersey Shore Book Expo pushed on bringing on book lovers far and wide to Monmouth University.

West Long Branch, NJ – Despite the Nor’easter, the first annual Jersey Shore Urban Book Expo pushed on. Book lovers came far and wide to Monmouth University’s student center to celebrate urban book authors seasoned or just starting their career in publishing.
Sponsored by Monmouth University, Long Branch Public Library, and Long Branch Recreation, authors displayed their work, sold copies, and offered signings while engaging with attendees.
Hosted by WBLS radio personality Lenny Green, the goal of the Jersey Shore Urban Book Expo was to facilitate a dialogue about the need for more urban authors and letting your voice be heard through writing.
Many of the authors expressed they have been blessed to leave their 9-5 to pursue writing full-time and even start their own publishing companies.
“Whether you have a few books under your book or just starting out, you are starting a wonderful journey that is going to last a lifetime” Lenny Green said to the authors during a question/answer discussion.
Charlmange Tha God, radio host of 105.1’s Breakfast Club, was also there who enamored fans while promoting the recent release of his book “Black Privilege”. Attendees were able to get an autographed copy of the book.
The organizers of the expo say this is the first of many. They want to be able to continue to dialogue that urban voices matter. For more information, please visit their website.
