The Strange Case of Brandon C Jackson
Brandon Jackson is currently serving a 12-year term. According to his family, this is partly due to a lackadaisical legal representation.
Unheard Voices was one of the first to report the story of Brandon C. Jackson, a young Black man from New Jersey who is sitting in a prison, in what his family is calling unjust.
Brandon C Jackson is currently serving a 12-year term in a New Jersey prison.
According to his family, this is partly due to an alarmingly lackadaisical legal representation by mainly “go-along to get-along” public defenders and private attorneys in Jackson, New Jersey.
A series of other cover-ups regarding his case which, in a nutshell, involves his self-defense in a racial attack upon him in October 2006, when he was 21 years old, by a group of white individuals who yelled “kill the n—er” and other racial epithets, in which no other person was charged.
He was convicted, without any evidence, of aggravated assault of two of his attackers, who testified against him at trial.
Basically, Brandon was charged for defending himself against his attackers.
Although the responding officer classified the incident as a racially-motivated attack/bias crime at the trial, which took place during the height of the Zimmerman/Martin incident, the judge said such comments had no relevancy in Ocean County, New Jersey, a predominantly white county.
Newsone got an exclusive interview with Brandon’s mother, as they explore the strange case of Brandon Jackson.
