Real talk about the N-Word
There’s so many things that I want to say about the N-word. People of color have voluntarily relinquished their self respect.
There’s so many things that I want to say about the N-word but realistically what is the point anymore? So many people of color find a way to justify the use and I personally find that to be rather disgusting.
People of color have voluntarily relinquished their self respect. We call ourselves N–ga so often that we forget the years of hate that lives behind it. No matter how many times we try to imply that it is a term of endearment it isn’t nor will it ever be. It is a term created to express disdain for our people. It is a term created to be oppressive. It was never used to display love yet we find ourselves to be so cleaver that we can change the intent. Now others don’t have to use it because we are stupid enough to use it for them. How soon we forget all of our ancestors who died for us to have respect and equality.
Recently “Hip Hop Artist”, Iggy Azalea posted of a picture with her and 3 Black, male artist and referred to them as her “N–gas”.
Now I personally am not a Iggy fan as I find her to be garbage. So calling her out is no sweat off my brow. But here’s the thing… How can we get upset that she referred to them as that if we call each other N–gas all the time. Don’t get mad at others for doing to you what you repeatedly do to yourself. You have to emit self respect for anyone else to feel the need to respect you. And if we do not express the wrongness of the term others will not see the wrongness in it as well.
