11-year-old New York girl and puppy attacked in broad daylight
The NYPD has arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the attack, which was captured on surveillance video and has since sparked outrage across New York City.

Neliana Garcia is demanding justice after her 11-year-old daughter was violently assaulted on a Bronx street last week. The NYPD arrested a 15-year-old girl for the attack, which surveillance video captured and which has since sparked outrage across New York City.
11-year-old brutally beaten in broad daylight
The incident occurred on September 22, just before 6 p.m., on Waring Avenue near Holland Avenue. Video footage captures an attacker sucker punching the young girl and beating her to the ground. One of the attackers then kicked her 4-month-old puppy, Leo, sending the dog flying.
“Her face was, like, completely in blood. Swelling. I can’t even recognize her,” Garcia told CBS News New York.
Two good Samaritans, a man and a woman, stopped their car and rushed to interrupt the attack. Although Leo escaped serious injury, Garcia says the assault left her daughter deeply traumatized.
“She don’t want to eat. She’s having seizures every night,” Garcia said.
Community calls for justice
Mayor Eric Adams condemned the violence, calling the incident “absolutely horrifying” and urging swift justice. Garcia is pushing for additional charges, including animal cruelty, and a safety transfer from the Department of Education when her daughter is ready to return to school.
Community members suspect the attackers may have harmed other victims as well. Another mother said the same group of girls assaulted her 17-year-old daughter outside a deli in August. “They’re capable of continuing to do it without feeling any guilt,” the woman told CBS New York.
Garcia’s plea for justice echoes throughout the Bronx. Families want answers, protection, and lasting change.
Investigation into 11-year-old’s brutal beaten
The NYPD urges anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish. You can also submit tips online or send a direct message on X @NYPDTips. All calls remain confidential.
