Kwanzaa is a week long celebration honoring African, African-American heritage and culture. As African American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world African community, Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense.

Kwanzaa celebrates what its founder called the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or Nguzo Saba (originally Nguzu Saba—the seven principles of African Heritage). These seven principles comprise a Swahili term for tradition and reason.

On this last day of Kwanzaa we celebrate Imani. Imani (faith): To believe with all our hearts in God, our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

Throughout life there is no doubt we will face struggles and obstacles that we will have to overcome. On this day of celebrating Kwanzaa, we must realize faith is what has brought us through our journey.

Without Imani (faith), you have nothing to look forward to. On this last day, uphold your faith, beliefs, and vow to grow spiritually and mentally.

HAVE FAITH.
