In Memoriam
Asbury Park High School Presents: Remembering Lou Parisi
I remember Lou being a strong passionate individual who loved talking to the students about Veterans and Memorial Day.
Long time VFW veteran, Lou Parisi, who would visit and had talks with the students in the Asbury Park School District passed away on September 23, 2025.
Remembering Lou Parisi
I remember Lou being a strong passionate individual who loved talking to the students about Veterans and Memorial Day. He would spend many hours answering questions and guiding students with their research especially when it concerned World War II.
I first met Lou in October of 2007. He was always in favor of the students participating in the Patriot’s Pen essay contest in which numerous students from the Asbury Park School District received awards for. Also, he enjoyed the numerous assemblies that my students and I would put together for the Veterans. Because of these assemblies and assisting the Veterans, Lou Parisi awarded me my first VFW Citizenship Education Award. Lou also provided awards to the students who would always dedicate their time in making sure these assemblies were successful.
Project Ghana
The highlight of Lou’s amazing stay in the Asbury Park School District was when he was a guest on the television show Classroom Close-up. This segment he participated in was about Project Ghana. Project Ghana allowed students to video conference students in Ghana Africa. Through the video conferencing, students would share their culture and guests. On this segment of Classroom Close-up, Lou Parisi was one of the guests for the Asbury Park School District and King Nana Terpor the Fifth was the guest in Ghana.
Lou made it to the age of 99. He was always a robust individual. Always polite, professional, and loved working with the students. It seemed that it was only yesterday that I met Lou. Time went by too fast. However, Lou Parisi’s contributions to the community that many have said would never be forgotten and live on.
21:27 you will see Lou on Classroom Close-up.
